One Melody, A Thousand Hopes Music Classroom Project

The project creates a music classroom in Hatay, offering 50 children access to music education, supporting psychosocial recovery after the earthquake.

Description

The 2023 earthquakes in Hatay caused serious disruptions in children’s education, psychosocial well-being, and participation in social life. In the aftermath of the disaster, helping children regain a sense of safety and remain connected to education became critically important. In response, the One Melody, A Thousand Hopes project was implemented at a primary school in Hatay built and donated by a philanthropist. Within the project, a music classroom was established; necessary renovations were completed and musical instruments and equipment were provided. Funding was raised through a charity concert organized with the Musa Göçmen Symphony Orchestra. After the opening of the classroom, students began receiving regular music education with the support of volunteer and contracted instructors. Through the healing power of music, the project has helped children strengthen their confidence, support their emotional well-being, and reconnect with daily life.
