2024 Women's Wellness Clinic - BPW St. Kitts

Bring awareness re services offered to women by health centres in St. Kitts-Nevis. Encourage medical screening/consultations as preventative measures.

BPW St. Kitts collaborated with the Ministry of Health, and the St. Kitts and Nevis Medical and Dental Association to administer a ‘Women’s Wellness Clinic’ during January 2024, World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. This was the third year the club has organised the Women’s Wellness Clinic, after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Clinic was held on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the following dates:

  • 13th January – Newtown Health Centre
  • 20th January – Basseterre Health Centre
  • 27th January – Sandy Point Medical Centre
  • 3rd February – St. Peters Health Centre

In addition to Cervical Cancer Screening (pap smear test), the nurses also conducted breast examinations, blood pressure testing; height, weight, and body mass index; diabetes screening as well as rapid testing for HIV.

181 persons participated in the Women’s Wellness Clinic and were seen by the nurses and doctors. Although most participants were women, there were a few male participants (about 5%). All participants were encouraged to complete a short survey form. 173 persons or 96% submitted a completed survey form. Based on the surveys submitted, most participants were age 32 and older.
