Members' Feedback to the PILOT Project

Member Projects, Experts & Titles of Federation & Club Projects is reaching its end of the pilot phase and will be voted on at the next International Congress i.e. at the BPW International Virtual General Assembly march 21-30, 2021.

Find here the feedback from BPW members who have participated in this pilot project.

General Feedback

"I think that BPW International should adopt the “Member Projects, Experts & Titles of Federation & Club Projects”permanently. It is very helpful to track all the projects and ideas in the BPW world. It is also a good source of information and data and all the members can challenge themselves to learn new things and acquire new skills."

Laura Zamperlin, BPW Italy

I have a positive opinion of the PILOT because it gave me the opportunity to study

and deepen the International Constitution, the Procedure Manual and their compatibility with International and European laws.

I also noticed that not all International Coordinations have Guidelines and Norms, regularly registered in their Region and approved by BPW International.

I am studying the possibility of giving all the Regional Coordinations a prototype with a common legal basis in compliance with the International Constitution and containing the basic legal norms of their Region.

I believe that this can be achieved in the PILOT's Legal Advice project for the next three-year period 2020/2023.

I am satisfied with the PILOT method which is innovative and effective. The continuous approach that Antoinette and Daniela have had with each Leader and each member of the project, in addition to being a guide, has stimulated interest in the PILOT Project and the desire to continue working towards the achievement of the objectives set.

Eufemia Ippolito, BPW Italy

What are your best experiences with the PILOT projects?

It is difficult to answer this question because I do not have a lot of experience with this project. In 2017 at the BPW international congress in Cairo we were asked to talk about our projects, which we did, but there was no follow-up. In 2020 we applied again and we didn't get a response.

Josiane Ouedraogo, BPW Burkina Faso

The best experience with the Pilot has been to have known so many Sisters around the world who have shared with us feelings, emotions, and new ideas.

Katia Reda, BPW Italy

Being included in the PILOT opened up many opportunities internally and externally.  I was invited as an expert to provide input on panels hosted not only by BPW clubs but also by partner organizations including universities.  I was recently invited to participate on the Government of Canada's Women and Gender Equality Department's CSW65 Negotiating Team to provide input on the Zero draft from the perspective of my international taskforce position and as a Subject Matter Expert.

Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla, BPW Canada

What aspects could be improved?

As far as i know , Communication among us is still a problem, I think there is a gap to be fulfilled.

Katia Reda, BPW Italy

  • Improves communication
  • Correct projects if they are badly tied up
  • Help to find financing
  • To do project management training

Josiane Ouedraogo, BPW Burkina Faso

It is important to ensure that the PILOT is known to all federations, affiliates and clubs.  Experts should have an opportunity to present at Leaders' Summits to share their areas of expertise.  A formal system can be set up for BPW clubs to include experts in their national conventions.  Experts can use that opportunity to build their committees from around the world.

Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla, BPW Canada

Should BPW International continue to support member projects an experts? And what are the reasons for this?

Yes, because it builds the reputation and image of the international organization that comprises of skilled professional women from today's.

Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla, BPW Canada

Yes, BPW International should support all these activities even from an economical point of view.

Katia Reda, BPW Italy

Yes, of course, this is part of the mission of our organization.

BPW International promises its members: an international network, participation in the work of the United Nations, partnership projects, leadership development, interculturality.  You must therefore channel your strengths towards networking on both sides of the world to enable partnerships.

Only BPW Montreal and Geraldine's INTERCONTINENTAL Online meeting provide a supportive framework for mentoring and sharing.

I think that you should establish links between the different socio-professional categories of women on both sides of the world and above all take real action so that women can implement real projects on the ground for their empowerment.

Josiane Ouedraogo, BPW Burkina Faso
